As you travel from the Rivertown of Conway down Highway 544 toward Surfside Beach (approx. 15 miles), you will pass under a new modern highway but a quick side trip will take you back in time. Turn left at the traffic light and follow the road around until you cross over the old 1920's swing bridge traversing the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. (On the left, you can pull off the road and park to enjoy watching the bridgetender turn the bridge each quarter hour.)

Continue on your path to the next stop light. Turn right. You will pass under the modern day Intracoastal Waterway bridge. At the next light, turn left. You will see a place that a bibliophile would love to visit. Park in the parking lot. Take the sidewalk next to the playground. Where the sidewalk ends....start counting strides. About 55 strides will have you facing a deep ditch.
When you arrive at the ditch, turn left. You should see a concrete drainage structure. Where the square ends and the exit tube begins you will find what you are seeking.
