Directions: From Washington, DC, take Rte. 50 West. Take the George
Mason Drive exit. Go south (left). When you get to south 8th Street,
you will see Alcova Heights Park on your left. Park on South 8th
street and exit your car on the side opposite the playground equipment..
From Fairfax, VA, take Rte. 50 East. Take the George Mason Drive exit south
(right). When you get to south 8th Street, you will see Alcova Heights
Park on your left. Park on South 8th street and exit your car on the
side opposite the playground equipment.
Box #1 - Hidden by Ninja
Walk along the water's edge. When you find an old rotted tree stump,
begin counting steps. Walk 25 steps to a picnic table and grill.
From the grill, look beyond the water to the second white house from
8th street. You are now facing the right direction. Take 11 steps
to a tree with a large cavity in it. Reach in the hole and you will
find Ninja's letterbox!
Box #2 - Hidden by Alice
Walk away from 8th street to the 3rd covered picnic area. Stand in
the middle of the * under cover. With your back to George Mason,
take 28-30 giant kid steps. You are now facing the water at an
uncovered picnic table. Take 10 kid steps. You will see a double tree
(one large, one small). Reach in the hole of the double tree and you
will find Alice's letterbox!
Letterbox #3 - Hidden by Guitar Nerd
Inside the third covered picnic area, farthest from 8th Street, stand
at the center of the *. Face George Mason and turn to the table on
your right. From there take 44 giant steps. You will now be at a
grill. Face the hill to George Mason. You will see a tree with a
hairy poison ivy rope growing on it. Take 12 steps from the grill
towards the hairy rope tree. You will find a small tree next to
the hairy rope tree. Inside the small tree facing the creek you will
find what you seek!
Letterbox # 4 - Hidden by Eyeball
Start at the trashcan beyond the third covered picnic area at the
edge of the park (farthest from South 8th Street). Face north,
with your back to South 8th Street. You should go in the
direction of the fuzzy rope poisin ivy vine. Count 28 steps.
You will now be at a brownish boulder. Take 3 giant steps to an
old log. Under the log, under leaves and debris, you will find
Eyeball's letterbox!
