In Search of the "ROSE GARDEN TRAIL"

Off the interstate about 2 miles or less. Still in good order as of 7/9/05.

Easy footpath with one set of concrete steps. At the box site, the last step is a doozy! Watch your step! Bring your compass, stamp pad and pen.

Note: This box is listed also as a Geocache/Letterbox Hybrid and has a few small trade items inside.

From Interstate 64, take the 5th St. Exit toward Huntington. You can see the gilded courthouse dome in the distance as you top the hill. At the bottom of the hill, turn East at the stoplight. Follow 4-pole creek on your left to the Stop Sign. Bear right and park in front of the stone wall at the Rose Garden. Enter the rose garden and stop in the center of the circle. Face Northwest and spot the stone archway. Proceed to that point....Don't forget to "Stop and Smell the Roses along the way". Proceed to the bottom of the steps. Face Southeast and proceed 15 paces (two steps to a pace) to the center of the simple concrete bridge. Take 15 more paces to the 2nd bridge. Take 55 more paces to the center of the curved stone wall. Face Northeast and step across 4 paces starting with your left foot. Think of the old Grimm's Fairy Tale called "The Three Billy Goats Gruff!" The box should be under your left foot. Use caution finding the box. (The iron posts make good hand holds.)

Now take your time, stamp up, and sign the log sheet with the date and your hometown. The trails lead you on short hikes or mountain biking to an ampitheater, tennis courts, fountains, pavillions, a playground, lots of fun places. Enjoy Ritter Park....LETSRACE NOTE: Stolen too many times. Will not be replaced. You could still enjoy a hunt for the spot.......
