Pony Pasture
Placed by: Elizabeth and Keith Pumpkin(
Easy trail-one-fourth mile

THe parking lot at Pony Pasture can be accessed most easily from Huguenot Road northbound or southbound near the Huguenot Bridge. Southbound, cross the bridge over the James River and exit Huguenot Road to the right at the end of the bridge. At the stop sign, turn right(downstream)and follow Riverside drive approximately 1.5 miles to the parking lot entrance.

From the parking lot, go to the river where you were told the bottom is uneven. Turn left, go under the fallen tree. Continue on the trail, to the second bench-along the scenic James River. Where your left shoulder points, go 12 paces. Between a knarly stump and a leaning tree, you will find the lovely letterbox in a hollow log.
