The Memory Cache
Back in commission 23 April 2009
The last box of Phase 1 of my boxing life.
(Take care as there may be thorny plant creatures along the way. Also check hidey holes with a stick first to avoid the devouring of thine finger and incidental lesser injuries.)
Two thousand and three was a most joyous year; I was introduced to letterboxing. I started with a store bought stamp, and subsequently visited 100 letterboxes with it, mostly in the southeastern Pennsylvania area. After F100 I set my stamp free as a hitchhiker. You’ll first need to find one of my old imprints (or chance upon the HH) in the letterboxing universe.
My store bought stamp was a golden
S _ _ _ _ _ _ _.
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Follow my old stamp to a new letterbox; it’s as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. Z
Along the way let your memory settle upon a joyful moment in your past to share in the journal.

A = From the shortest totem pole head 320d down the wood chip path, crossing over a gravel driveway.
B = Sight the tennis courts to the west. Begin at the entrance to the court. Beta is the number of tennis courts.
C = Drive to the Fort Washington Park just off Route 73. Park in the lot adjacent to the viewing platform. Check out the view.
D = About 200p along the trail, a brick structure stands on the right. Count the white bricks on the south face. This number is Beta.
E = From the park map head down the main trail at 320d. Cross two bridges over running water. Bear left on the gravel path.
F = You come to a sign indicating an eerie waterhole and a place where stones jog lie in the same direction. Head in that direction.
G = At the next five trail intersections turn right, then at the next three turn left. At the very next intersection you will see a toilet seat nailed to a tree at 50d.
H = From the entrance sight a hole 4p at (20 X Beta)d. Beneath wood and rock resides the memory cache.
I = At the edge of wetness upon a deck sight a birdhouse at 124d. Go there.
J = Return to the picnic tables referenced in the third step. At the center of the tables sight a tree at the fringe of the meadow at (35 X Beta + 3)d. What you’ve been searching for is hidden under some bark behind the tree.
K = Start at the structure where avians see no more. Count the number of viewing ports. That number is Beta.
L = Follow the grassy trail at 230d for a while, passing three benches. When a trail crosses the trail next, turn right and head up the hill.
M = At the post, face away from the lake, take 15p to a stump. Stand on the stump and look around for a “7” marker.
N = From the black drain pipe visible at 30d go 20p at 175d to a large oak, then 12p at 234d to cairn of stones hiding the prize.
O = At the gazebo you see from the lot take a reading of 94d. Follow that heading to the lion sculpture. The lion looks in the direction you must walk.
P = Seek out Pennypack Ecological Trust off Mason Mills Rd. Park at the far end of the lot.
Q = Locate Kohler Park in Horsham off Horsham Road. Park in near end of the lot. Beta is the number of handicap parking spaces.
R = At the picnic tables make a right heading North. Cross the paved path and cross a bridge over a bubbling brook.
S = Sight a structure at 10d. Check it out and count the windows, boarded ones included. That number is Beta.
T = Find Robbins Park off Norristown Road in Ambler. Park in the midde of the lot.
U = Count eight posts from the northeast end of the lot. Take (Beta X 11)p at 75d to a bench with initials CQ carved in it. Sit and enjoy the view.
V = Cross the stream carefully on the stepping stones. Climb the opposite bank and take the paved trail at 66d.
W= Zip on over to Tamanend park in Southampton off Second Street Pike. Park in the first lot on the right.
X = Take Beta monster paces at 320d from the bench to a Y shaped tree. At 55d look for a metal sign pointing the way to the trail you want.
Y = Climb the X shaped tree at (7 X Beta)d. The treasure nest is in a hollow 8 feet up.
Z = "The point of a journey is not to arrive!" And so the journey continues sans bonnet. To dream. To live. To love. Timshel!
