KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: This beautiful beachfront campground is open with full services for camping from Apr 01 to Oct 31. Area is open year round, but there is no water or electricity available during off-season. For that reason, there is no charge during the off-season.( Call campground for more details)

DIRECTIONS: From Highway 75 in Denison, TX: Take exit 72 to Highway 91, travel north on 91 across Denison Dam 5 miles into Oklahoma, take first exit left on Windy's Drive to east Burns Run Campground.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This 89,000 acre lake on the Red River is shared by Texas and Oklahoma. A top fishing lake, it is one of the most popular recreation destinations in the Southwest. Lake Texoma was built by the Corps of Engineers in the 1940's, and was stocked with black bass and crappie as well as the native white bass in the Red and Washita Rivers.
Included in the lake area are two wildlife refuges, two state parks, fifty four U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-managed parks, twenty-six resorts, hundreds of campgrounds and a variety of excellent golf courses. Power boating, power sailing, personal watercraft, water skiers and wind surfers all consider the lake an excellent place. Lake Texoma has become a busy and popular sailing center based on the lake's size, depth and miles of sailing shoreline.

CLUES: After entering the Burns Run east campground, turn at the first left across from the Dump Station (take a moment to ponder how they devised a Universal Symbol for Dump Station!). Pass the RV camping area, and then pass the group picnic area. Follow road to lakeside beach campsites. Find the pavilion area across the street with curved barrel restrooms. From the center of the pavilion, take approximately 63 paces NW (opposite direction from the parking area). You will be pacing under an arch of trees. Look for the last large vine-covered tree on your right before the bridge (If you reach the bridge at the trailhead, you've gone too far.)Take 6 paces from the track to the tree, and look for the box wedged in vines at back of tree.
