Alive and well 19 FEB 2005.

This box is in Martin Dies Jr. State Park (Walnut Ridge Unit), near Jasper, Texas. The park is located on Highway 190 between Woodville and Jasper, at B. A. Steinhagen Lake.

To find the box: Turn north on Park Road 48 from Highway 190. This will be the Walnut Ridge Unit. Go past the Wildscape/Herb Garden and Nature Center. Continue on the paved road until you come to a trail head on your right. This will be just before you cross the bridge.

From the bulletin board:

15 paces to the first small blue hiker.
45 paces to the second blue hiker.
50 paces to a tree with several park signs.
53 paces to the third blue hiker.
66 paces further to your blue hiker.

You will pass a fallen tree along the path on your right. There is a tree with a tall root running along the ground. The tree is just off the trail. The box is behind this root, next to the tree trunk, under leaves and branches. The box is a bright blue cylinder.

Watch for snakes and alligators! Please be discreet and replace the box as found. Be sure you close the cylinder tightly when you are finished stamping in. I would appreciate notification when you find this box.
