Welcome to the New York State Thruway Letterbox Series! This is the perfect opportunity for those traveling in western New York State to take frequent breaks and, most importantly, to find some letterboxes. Each box is a drive by which will provide you with numerous opportunities to learn about the Empire State. Enjoy your trip and New York State!

Have you ever wondered which motto is the state motto of New York? Here is your chance to find out! Find the Historic New York marker (big, blue sign) at the Angola Travel Plaza, mile marker 447 on west bound I90. The NY State Motto actually is no where near the Historic marker, but you should locate and read it anyway so you can learn more.

If you drove your big rig into the parking lot, you'd be able to carry your lunch over to a picnic table to sit down and eat. A letterboxer would be interested in enjoying a stop-sign-sandwich near two picnic tables and one boulder.

Easy! Please be aware of who is around while finding, stamping and returning the letterbox. Please bring your own pencil and ink pad. Happy trails!
