Difficulty: Easy about 1mi hike on relatively flat packed gravel trail

Directions to Doe Run Lake: Take I-275 to the Covington/Independence exit. Head South on KY-17. Proceed past Pioneer Park and take the next road on right, Old KY-17. Turn left onto Bullock Pen Road and follow to the lake. Park on the levee.

A paved trail begins opposite the entrance hill (Note: Letterbox is NOT located on the nature trail that originates from the parking lot by the boat ramp. But do check it out, especially if you are a strong hiker). Hike until the gravel ends in a faint roundabout. From the center of this circle head roughly 300' to another gravel path. Look for a pair of rocks on the ground to your right AND left. 17 paces from these rocks another trail branches left. Go 8 paces down this trail. You will find the letterbox 2 paces at roughly 195' in a hollow tree.

Enjoy your walk along the lake. White tail deer are common visitors and there are a pair of herons that seem to always be in attendance. (Perhaps not much longer with the encroaching suburbs. Sigh!) In addition to the wildlife, this area is used by various people, not all of them ecologically minded. It would be awesome if you letterboxers would collect a bit of trash and pack it out.

Please let me know if you find it.
