BYO pen and ink.
Regular sized box, room for a hitchhiker

Be aware that I have another box planted at the Arboretum named Bonsai Beauty. Be sure to get those clues as well.

Driving directions:
From I-26 East or West exit no. 33 (old exit #2) Brevard Rd. Follow signs for North Carolina Arboretum. Drive past Biltmore Square Mall and Toys R Us until you see the turnoff to the right for the Blue Ridge Parkway. Turn right toward the parkway but don’t go up the hill. Bear right into the entrance to the Arboretum. Fee for parking $8, except the first Tuesday each month when entrance is free.

Clues for the Child of the Night LB (a pace is two steps):

Finding herself beside the French Broad River, she went to seek shelter. The recent rains had swollen the rivers dangerously, so she headed for higher ground. She knew the roads were hazardous so she went to the woods.

She dashed quickly past the entry gate, hoping the human inside wouldn’t see her and turned left to an area where cars were parked. She went a bit downhill and crossed a concrete bridge over the creek. She heard bicycles ahead so she took the first trail on the right.

There was no place to hide here—she was still too close to the road, which now wound above her head. She followed the trail until she reached another old roadbed and turned left. All the spots she saw were still too close to the river, so she ran on. At one point she saw a large box on the right and thought to hide behind it, but the human smell was strong here so she ran faster.

Finally she found a path to the right leading uphill. She saw a yellow marker on a post but that meant nothing to her. As she went up, she saw the influence of humans on the landscape. There were low stone walls along the trail. She came to a fork in the trail and went RUNNING to the left around the switchback. She didn't see any CEDAR so she rested in some ground pine in the edge of the curve before heading further up.

Shortly she came to two wooden steps up to the right. From the top step she went ten paces then looked to the left. The group of three trees looked too obvious, so she went four paces to the tree to the left of that group. She curled up under a pile of sticks and leaves behind the tree and there she waits.
