Clues

Healdsburg is a charming small town just off Hwy 101 in the wine country of northern California. You can easily while away a day there: the Plaza has restaurants and fun shops, and there are many wineries to visit in the surrounding area. Now there are also letterboxes to find! This series of 4 boxes can be found in about 2 miles roundtrip, and is walk-friendly, bike-friendly, kid-friendly and dog-friendly (mostly--and mostly leashed).

From 101 S: Take the Central Healdsburg exit. Go through 2 signals and straight on Healdsburg Avenue to the Plaza.

From 101 N: Take the Westside Road exit. Turn left at the stop sign onto Westside Road. Proceed to the signal and turn left onto Healdsburg Avenue. At the next signal, the Plaza will be ahead of you to the right.

Park at the Plaza and spend some time ambling around: enjoy the trees, the various monuments, the fountain and ...

Update 9/21/06: Healdsburg is a great town, still worth visiting, still harboring perhaps one letterbox, but when the actual US mailbox that I had attached the new box 1 to was removed from its location (along with my letterbox), and box 4 was gone also, I decided to cut my losses and pull the last remaining box and retire the series. The Healdsburg angel may show up in a new location at a later date, but all its ivy cover had been chopped out & I feared for its safety. This has been a difficult series to keep in place, so I need to spend some more time location scouting before new boxes will be planted in this town.
