A short, easy walk. Please bring your own stamp pad and pen.
Directions to Firemans Memorial Park:
Long Island Expressway(495)to William Floyd Parkway exit 68.Travel north to Route 25. Take Route 25 east to the park entrance on left, about .3 of a mile (opposite Kaufeld's).The entrance road to the park is called Firefighters Way. Follow this road to the end, and park in the lot.
Most of this park is handicapped accessible. There are picnic tables on the grounds, and restrooms and a small gift shop in the Administration Building. The centerpiece of the park is the museum - the fully restored 1889 Centre Moriches Firehouse, which contains firefighting equipment, apparatus, photos and memoribilia. There are antique, hand pulled hose and ladder carts, and vintage fire trucks both in buildings and on the grounds. The museum is free, although donations are gratefully accepted.
Museum Hours:May 1-Oct. 31: Tues. &Thurs. 10 -3
Sat. & Sun. 12-4
Nov. 1-April 30: Sat. & Sunday 12-4

Clues: After parking your car, walk up the paved pedestrian path to the heart of the complex. Enjoy the museum and trucks. Then locate the paved path that is between the Hooper Building and the vintage truck lot. Follow this path (heading south) until it makes a sharp turn to the left. Continue on the pedestrian path about 15 paces. Look to your right. You will see three groups of three trees. Look in the crook of the middle group, under some brush for the box. Please rehide carefully.
