Fredericksburg is a place soaked in national history. Not only was most of the Civil War fought here(it is halfway between DC and Richmond), George Washington and his family lived here. His mother's house still stands and the local university bears her name. It would be worth your will to stop by the visitors center and take the trolley tour. It costs 14$ for adults and 5$ for children. If you antique, then you've found the place to be! Be sure to browse the shops downtown if you have the time.
Travel down the street named for George. Stop at his mother's obelisk, it's just a smaller version of his own. Visit the Gordon's. Say a prayer for the soldiers, just like Mary did for her son and the troops so many years ago at Meditation Rock. George sits atop a cinder block wall underneath the planked walkway that's at the corner of the cemetery wall. Be careful when retrieving George as this is a high traffic area. When replacing, be sure that you can't see him when coming up the hill.
