The Great Stone Face Letterbox-#1 in Beehive Series

The Great Stone Face is known as the "Guardian of Deseret". This popular tourist attraction is well worth the time. It is a huge, natural, lava rock formation. Here is a link that shows a picture of the Great Stone Face:

The easiest place to start is in the city of Delta. Get on main street, and go west through town. You will turn left (south) when you see the highway 257/Deseret sign.

Approximately 6 miles after this turn-off, you will see a sign for the Great Stone Face. Turn right (west) on the dirt road. You will follow this road for approximately 5.6 miles. It dead-ends at the Great Stone Face.

Find the trail that leads up to the Great Stone Face, and hike up to it. This trail is easy/moderate hiking-our kids were even able to hike it. On the east side of the Great Stone Face, you will see what looks like a painted eye. Go 15 paces directly east of this eye to a big rock. You should find what you seek on the east side of this rock. Good luck!

Please send an email, letting us know of the condition of this letterbox. Thank you!
