Tamanend Park is on Second Street Pike, Route 232 in Southampton, Pa

Note: box #2 is MIA as of 9/20/04.
I hope to replace it eventually. Watch this space.

Park is dog and kid friendly with a playground and restrooms. Bring a picnic and plan to spend an afternoon enjoying this beautiful place.

These boxes are stroller accessible, not sure about wheel chairs.

Boxes are covered in camouflage so please, re-cover and re-hide well! This is a busy park with lot’s of folks on the trails, please be discreet and stamp in well away from the hiding location in case someone comes along.

These stamps were carved by the Raindear kids, but planted by Hikers and Hounds. Thanks Irene.

Box 1 – The Cat in the Hat letterbox
After entering the park, park in the 1st lot on the right just past the stop sign. Walk back out to the paved driveway and turn right. Soon there will be a trail on the other side of road on the left. You will see a sign the reads “No Parking – Fire Lane!”. Take the trail into the woods, down the hill and over the bridge. As soon as you cross the bridge you have to make a decision – left or right? One way will soon show you another trail off to the left. That was the wrong decision! The other way will show you a trail off to the right. That was the correct decision! You need to find that trail! Once you take that trail, at about 50 feet in, you will see a tall, straight tree on the right side of the trail standing alone. That which you seek is behind the tree under some logs.

Box 2 – The Reindeer Letterbox

Currently MIA - I will try to replace when time permits.

Park in the lot near the park office. Walk out to the office and take the trail to the right, The Richard Leedom trail. Turn left as soon as you can. Soon the trail bends right at the V-shaped tree, or perhaps it’s just two trees growing closely together? Count 9 trees standing side by side on the right. Look behind the 9th tree under some bark for your treasure.
Please carefully re-hide and go on to Box 3.

Box 3 – The Dobby Box
After carefully re-hiding box 2 walk back out to the park office. Walk past the office, no time to spy on the birds, until you find Mr. Jones’ bench. Turn right at the bench and over the bridge you go.
What a pretty path on the left. You should check it out sometime but not today! Stay straight through the glade. Whoa! There’s a small tree in the middle of the glade. No problem, walk around it’s right side and keep on going until you pick up the trail. Keep your eyes open! See the fallen tree just inside the tree line on your left? Look behind and under it for your reward!
After stamping in please carefully re-wrap and re-hide.

Please note us a note about your adventure and the condition of the boxes. Thanks. trainear@comcast.net
