*** Officially retired. The hotel has been sold, and the new owners plan to tear it down in the next few months.:-( It is a wonderful location though-- anyone traveling to Myrtle Beach with pets should stay there before it's gone forever! Posted 10/25/05 ***

Letterbox known to be alive and well as of ** 6/15/05**. The name has been changed-- it was originally "Prints in the Sand" listed on this database. (Sorry, that was an error on this end)

We know there are treats there. Goooooood crunchy treats that Mommy and Daddy buy for us! They say this is a place where you could walk Barefoot cause it matches the name…but of course only us DOGS get to walk barefoot in public. The car-place we’re on is number seventeen—I don’t understand this number, because everyone knows races only have eight holes to jump at the rabbit from. Who needs a number higher than that?

But we can take a trip if you want to. I like traveling! Let’s start at that barefoot-place and go in the direction Mommy says Florida is, where we got to race and play. Mommy does the directions, but Daddy always sits in the front and makes the car go.

I’d better stand up because they need me to bark and remind them to make a turn when we see the big pink flamingo eating-place. I can smell the ocean! Let’s go that way! It took us a little while to get here from the treat-place though—just long enough to take a short little doggy nap. (Kitties aren’t the only ones who know how to sleep!) So here we go….we’re turning toward that lovely smell of water when Mommy says the big flamingo shows up. I think flamingos have weird lookin’ legs, but I’m happy for them to point the way! She says something about “seventy-first”, but I don’t know what that means either. Mommy’s and Daddy’s are smart….it might have something to do with the Flamingo but I don’t have to worry about that.

It looks like the road is running out!! Daddy says he knows we’re there cause we don’t want to drive into the next hotel and he doesn't want to make any more turns either.

OHhhhh, but LOOK! It’s our favorite away-from-home-place! It has lots of big big trees, and ittty bitty flying birds, and the buildings all look like Florida. We all love it here. Daddy pulls up into the first empty spot he can find in the last car-place on the right. I can see the bumpy bricks where we’re supposed to walk from here, and the big pretty tree through the hole in the fence. (The fences are tall and we don’t like’em cause we can’t see through)

Mommy’s excited cause she wants to check something she calls ‘her box’ first thing! So we walk through the big hole in the fence, straight past the big tree, and past the pool. Silly, I know what a pool is cause I lived in Florida for goodness sakes, but they won’t let me swim in it. What good is lovely blue water if I can’t swim?? I can smell the ocean away on my left side though, so maybe we can go there later. But hey, the numbers on the doors are beginning to remind me of my jackets for the races again!

Anyway, when she can’t walk any further we turn away from the ocean and go farther back into the hotel. I’m looking for my favorite hiding-place! She let’s me find the little sitting-place with the weird dead grass top, and I can hear the moving water. There’s a little path there just made for me because I can hide under the really tall plant-things over my head. Mommy says we have to find the big frog and something about he’s hollow. I think that means I could hide treats there to keep them from my brothers if I ever got my paws on them! Mommy’s very happy because she says people are putting it back real careful, and what makes my Mommy happy makes me all wiggly inside. Maybe we’ll see you there and we can have a good sniff together.

Notes for the humans, dictated by the dogs of course:

This is Greyhound Stop #2, the best Myrtle Beach hotel destination for dog-owners! To report problems with this box please email their Mommy at greycrazy1@yahoo.com. This is a stamp that symbolizes the perfect sunrise on the beach to me, carved in a very special place. If you want to know the story just email my mommy and ask! The hotel folks pet me and they're nice and give me treats....but they know the box is a secret and won't help you find it.
