Welcome to the New York State Thruway Letterbox Series! This is the perfect opportunity for those traveling in western New York State to take frequent breaks and, most importantly, to find some letterboxes. Each box is a drive by which will provide you with numerous opportunities to learn about the Empire State. Enjoy your trip and New York State!

Have you ever wondered which animal is the state animal of New York? Here is your chance to find out! Find the Historic New York marker (big, blue sign) at the Port Byron Travel Plaza, mile marker 310, on east bound I90. The NY State Animal letterbox is located at the base of the right hand post of the AMVets sign to the right of the blue sign. Easy! Please be aware of who is around while finding, stamping and returning the letterbox. Please bring your own pencil and ink pad. Happy trails!
