I've had a report that the box is in an area now off limits. I don't know if this is a temporary or permanent closure. Please do not look for the box if the area is marked off limits.
Darlingtonia State Natural Site is a nice little park just north of Florence, Oregon just off of highway 101. The park is dedicated to the protection of the carnivorous Darlingtonia Californica plant. See http://www.oregonstateparks.org/park_115.php for more information.
From the parking lot cross the bridge and stay right to go on a short loop to visit the plants. Only after appreciating the wonder offered here should you proceed to your secondary quest – the letterbox. Return to the fork after the bridge and go to the picnic area. A dirt trail starts here. Follow the trail. Cross a damp area (this may downright wet depending on the season and weather) and then go up a root covered hill. Tread carefully. At the top of the hill you can spot a fallen tree to the left. Crawl over to it to find the box under the end of the log closest to the trail.
