These boxes are good to go...some areas get wet after heavy rains. 5/2/09

The world premiere of The Wizard of Oz was at the Strand Theater on August 12, 1939 in this town. This series is to commemorate one of the greatest movies of all time. To solve the clues, you will need to obtain information from both the movie and the many books written by L. Frank Baum.

More boxes will be placed, but we will start with the first three.

Walk a few steps while keeping an eye out for a path on the left. Follow the path as it turns and parallels a small ravine. Notice all the debris—the Tin Woodsman must have been working here. Continue straight on the path until you say to yourself, “Now which way do we go?” Then from somewhere behind you, you hear a squeaky moan. The Tin Woodsman? Retrace you steps (4)___________paces. Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

Box #4
Haunted Forest

Dorothy and Toto passed the red bathroom and took the small path into the woods. After some time, she came to an intersection. She chose to go left and walked the path deeper into the woods. She could see the water on her left. She ignored the trail heading uphill on her right and from there took 37 paces. She stopped in front of a gnarled tangle of old fallen and twisted trees. She heard her stomach growl. “If only these were apple trees,” she thought. Perhaps she might find some. She followed the length of the fallen tree to her right at a heading of 140 degrees walking to a 12 foot stump. She then walked around to the other side of the stump. Through the brush, about 30 feet in front of her she spotted a rusty piece of farm equipment. She heard a noise. Dorothy turned around quickly. “Who said that?” she asked. To find what Dorothy heard, walk back around to the other side of the 12 foot stump and carefully search the base. Please rehide correctly.

Box #5
And Toto Too!
Dorothy returned to the main path and walked back to the trail going uphill. Toto began to run ahead. “Toto, come back!”, she called. She followed the little black dog as he ran back past where they had first entered the woods. He race on a trail heading northwest. She caught up with him at the north end of a pile of stones where he stood barking at a red brick.

More to come!
