Clues - Easy. Straight forward directions. (Compass is useful)
Distance - Under 100 yards. Depends on where you park
Time to complete - 5 to 10 min
Trek - Super-easy walk across a flat grassy field.
Weather Factors - Muddy and slippery in places when wet.
Kids and Dogs - Yes dogs. Great place for kids to climb on logs and play along the shore.
Notes:
The view of Possession Sound and Whidbey Island gives Mukilteo State Park large scenic value. Other recreation attractions at the park are shore fishing, beachcombing, bird watching, kite flying and marine life observation. Swimming is not recommended because of the currents and drop-offs. If you are a kite flyer and the weather permits, I'd suggest you bring yours along.
The Mukilteo Lighthouse is open noon - 5 p.m. weekends and holidays, April through October. The Mukilteo Historical Society offers free tours and operates a gift shop.
Directions:
From I-5, take exit 189 on to highway 526, follow signs to Mukilteo ferry terminal. At ferry terminal intersection (Mukilteo Speedway and Front Street). Take a left onto Front Street and pull into parking lot on left.
Easy as 1, 2, 3:
1) From the parking area face SE.
2) Locate the yellow white/gray shed across the field, near the RR tracks.
3) You'll find the box behind the east corner, under a couple of bits of cement.
