The ranching community of Addington dates from 1896. The Chisholm Trail ran through the middle of the 18,000 Price Ranch. J.C. Price had driven herds over the trail before settling down to ranching. There was a well-known landmark here on the trail. A nearby spring made it a popular camping spot, and over the years drovers added rocks to the pile until a substantial mound called "Monument Rocks" was created.

Clues:

Take US 81 (Chisholm Trail Highway) into Addington (about 17 miles south of Duncan). On the north edge of town turn East on Eva Road. There is a faded sign pointing to a historial spot 3 miles east. Follow the road and you will see "Lookout Point" or Monument Hill. Just as you pass the monument, there is a gravel road that winds up to the monument. Park, and read the four sides of the monument, then enjoy the view. Walk to the fence, note the "warning" sign. There is a mound of dirt next to the sign with a rock on top. The box is under the rock on top of the mound. As always, use caution in case there are "critters" slithering around.

Happy Questing!
