The townsite was part of the Swinging Ring Ranch owned by a man who had married into the Chickasaw Nation. When the Rock Island came, it called the station "Chickasaw", but the Post Office Department misread the application and the city has been called
"Chickasha" ever since. This town is home to one of the premier Christmas light shows in the state! Definitely worth a trip to the beautiful Shannon Springs Park in December. The day we planted our box it was a gorgeous late summer day and the park was really beautiful even without the Christmas trimming!

Clues: Take US Highway 81 (Chisholm Trail Highway) to highway 92 then west to 9th street then south to the main entrance to the Park. Drive under the arch and park in the first parking lot, on the North end. Walk toward the dam on the path. Before reaching the dam, turn right onto the "Advanced Challenge Course" pathway. Follow the course slightly downhill. You'll have a chance to "strech your legs", "touch your toes", "twirl your arms" and if there were a drill sargent around "give him five!" When you come to the station on the right where an olympic gymnast could practice part of his or her routine, stand with your back to the parallel bars, facing the park, and sport a HUGE cedar at approximately 255 degrees. The box is near the trunk under the side opposite the trail beneath cedar needles and a rock.
Happy Questing!
