Echo Lake sits on the crest of the Lake Tahoe basin and is one of many trail heads to Desolation Wilderness.
Directions: Drive to Echo Lake Marina off highway 50 at the summit.
Cross over the dam spillway, you are on the PCT trail. On the left is some info signs, on the right is a green tool shed. Just past that is a small trail that leads off the main trail, straight through some small bushes. Follow the trail for 15 paces, until it opens up. On the right is two large boulders, between the boulders underneath some ferns you will find your treasure. This is a snow bound area in the winter. Enjoy your search and the views of Echo Lake.
