Take Hwy 1 south to Monterey. Exit on the Fremont Blvd, Seaside exit. At the Y take a right on Del Monte blvd. At stoplight take a right on Playa Ave. Follow to the dead end. Park behind Orchard Supply. Start at The Monterey Bay Coastal Trail on your right.
Follow the yellow stripped road under the overpass, counting the lightposts as you go. Stop at the 38th lightpost and turn to the left.
Behold the whales and sails!
Find the Rock that looks like a pyramid and count three cypress trees back behind the rock. The box is hidden under two pieces of concret rock. Be carefull not to be seen it is a very busy area.
Easy walk, great biking path, dogs are welcome. Nice spot for picnic or a walk on beach.
