Pound Ridge Reservation is a vast park that has many hiking trails, campsites, a museum, and art gallery. This letter box will take you on a simple journey that is 2-5 mile hike by your choice.

After you park, you will notice a picnic area and three possible trails. One trail leads you to a shelter, one is a closed off "road", the other is a typical walking trail. You want to take the middle trail (closed off road) directly across from the picnic area. This is Boone Trail. You will see a sign with a map and distances of alternate trails.

Start down this trail. You will come to the first of many forks on the trail. You want to go left.

You will come to another intersection, one path is much more worn than the other. The peanut's character, pig pen, is your clue. I am sure you will make the "right" decision.

You will soon notice another obvious trail path on your left. This is Pell Hill. Look for the sign on the tree.

Stay to your right on this path. Be sure not to talk to much or you may not hear our dear friend, Brook, babbling to herself.

After meeting Brook, you will come to another fork in the road. One way takes you to the museum, and the other for a longer hike. Sit down on the bench for you will need this rest to gain a better sight for what you seek. While on this bench look for a couple of arrows that are pointing to your treasure.

From the bench take 47 steps back from where you came. On your left you will see several fallen trees. This is where your treasure awaits. Look for the tree that has been clearly cut and the roots are farthest from you. In the trunk of this tree at the root base is where your treasure is hidden.

Once you have found your treaure, simply follow the color of the sun back to the parking lot, or take in a bit of a longer journey by visiting the museum or following the red. Have fun and good luck.

Note: I got word in april of 2007 that this box is damaged (cracked/chewed by animals). I no long live in the area to replace soon. My understanding is the stamp is still good. If you decide to find this box and want to help me out by replacing the box and put in a new paper pad, I would appreciate it. Please let me know if you do, so that I can take off this message and mark the box active again. thanks

Directions to Pound Ridge Reservation and parking lot:

684 to exit 6 (route 35); take 35 east towards Cross River; Turn right( south) onto 121. The reservation is on your left about 100 yds down.

Follow entrance road for a while and passing the Gallery. Take first right where a sign marks that the musuem is straight ahead. You will pass a white house on your left. Shortly after this house you will come to a parking lot with picnic area on one side. You will see 4 BBQ pits that look like Stone chairs. The far end of the parking lot has a circle turn about with stone flower planter in the middle. Park anywhere.
