Poke O Moonshine: If Supergirl Can Do It, Anyone Can!

To get to Poke O Moonshine, go south on 87 and take the Willsboro exit. At the end of the offramp, turn left and go to the light. At the light, hang a right, and continue on down the road about 4 miles, to where you'll see the entrance to Poko O Moonshine.

I highly recommend bringing water, a simple snack, a camera, a last will and testament if you're as out of shape as I am, and an eraser for that will if the person you're doing this hike with is with you. Trust me, again you'll understand but only if you haven't hiked in a while.

On the park property, there's what appears to be a driveway going south. Follow this and it will lead you to the start of the trail. There you'll find a welcome box, at which you'll need to sign the registration book on your way in and on your way out. There you will also find pamphlets giving fascinating information on the hike.

This is a 1.2 mile hike up the mountain, and quite simply, go to the top to find the letterbox.

Coming off the trail, the firetower should be directly in front of you. If the Summit Steward is there, they will almost always be glad to answer any questions you may have as well as take photos. Standing beneath the firetower and facing the stairs as though you were about to go up them, straight ahead you will notice a dead pine tree, standing gray and proud against the glorious backdrop. Behind this tree is the treasure you seek, covered by deadfall and bark.

Note: Supergirl officially apologizes for the misspelling of the stamp. She did not realize that was incorrect until she was at the mountain and saw the sign.

Note about the Note: Supergirl would like to say in her defense that this was her first letterbox she's ever placed, and she's mighty proud of it!
