HANDCARVED STAMP
CLUES: Easy
DIFFICULTY: Moderate. The trail is quite steep and is frequently wet and can become slippery. Good hiking shoes are a must and a walking stick would be helpful. This being said, I am quite out of shape and I was able to slowly manage my way down and back up again.

TO THE WHITE RIVER FALLS CAMPGROUND:
From East or West, take Highway 2 to Coles Corner West of Leavenworth. At Coles Corner, take Highway 207 towards Lake Wenatchee. Follow this road (I believe it becomes some other road but I could not exactly tell on my map)along Lake Wenatchee past the State Park.Keep going until you pass Lake Wenatchee altogether. You will eventually pass the Lake Wenatchee Ranger Station on your right. Once you pass the ranger station, keep an eye out for the White River Road on your right. Take the White River Rd. for approximately 7-8 miles. Be cautious, this road is narrow and curvey, and every time I've driven it, there always seems to be somebody driving way too fast either trying to pass or coming right at me from the opposite direction. You will pass the Napeequa Crossing Campground on your left. Soon afterward, the paved road will end and will become gravel. Pass the Tall Timber Ranch on your right and keep going. Next is Grasshopper Meadows. Keep Going. Finally, you will come to a sign that reads White River Fallls. Turn left at the sign and go down the hill into the campground. There are 5 spaces available for tent camping (no fee required) and 2 outhouses and no potable water.

TO THE LETTERBOX:
From the campground reader board walk west toward the falls. Look to your left for the trail(there are several trails but they all lead to the bottom of the falls and I'm not sure that any one of them is better than the others). Follow your trail to the bottom of the falls. At the base of the falls there is a large rock (it is usually in the river, however, when the water is low it is dry) which points east to your prize. With your back to the pointing rock, look forward at the rocky wall in front of you. Look for a crevice in the wall about ten feet up from the base. Hint: Follow the route of the root. The White River Falls Letterbox awaits above. We tried to plant it high enough that it would be safe from flooding.

This is our first attempt at planting a letterbox. Please let us know if you found it in poor condition. You may contact us at THEGOODMANSENS@MSN.COM

IMPORTANT- This letterbox is only accessable from late may, early June through Oct or November due to snow accumulation.
