The Lord of the Rings series is a joint project between the Raindears and Hikers & Hounds. Be sure to print out the Raindears clues for the first 4 boxes, H&H contributed boxes 5 and 6 and those clues are below.

Nockamixon State Park is along PA 563, just off of PA 313, five miles east of Quakertown and nine miles west of Doylestown. The main entrances are along PA 563 and can be reached from PA 309 and PA 313, or from the north on PA 412.

Difficulty level - Embarrassingly Easy, about 20 minutes round trip. Boxes are in camoflage so hunt well. Oh, and please rehide well too!

Planted near LoTR boxes 3 & 4 so make sure you've printed all of the clues!

Clues:

Box #5 Gandalf:
Enter the park from the main entrance off of Route 563, follow signs to the pool. Park in the lot at the pool. Starting walking on the paved path that parallels the pool heading up hill. As you pass the pool entrance, you will see a tree lined path straight ahead. Gandalf has been hiking on that path in search of the Balrog. As Gandalf started hiking the path he noticed large rocks on both sides of the path. These rocks did not look liked they were here naturally, perhaps they were delved from the Mines of Moria? He did not know, but he thought they looked like a pretty good spot for an impromtu micro-box placed by some other boxer. He hiked along the path until it began to turn left. At the turn he spied a tree on his left and decided to camoflage himself under the rocks on the right side of the tree while he thought up a plan to defeat the Balrog once and for all.

Box #6 The Balrog:
After devising a plan for the his nemisis ultimate defeat, Gandalf continued aliong the path until he heard strange noises. He saw things flashing by in front of him in the distance that he had never seen before. What sort of deviltry has Sauron wrought now? He knew that going straight was not safe so he made a sharp left at the earliest opportunity. Soon he saw on his right a small boulder field. Gandalf was now convinced the Mines of Moria were surely below him and even more sure that the Balrog was hiding somewhere among the boulders, looking for a way to get back down into the mines. Carefully, Gandalf entered the boulder field and searched amoung the rocks and trees. Soon he saw a tree ahead of him the seemed merge to the very rock! To the left of that tree, he saw a large rocks with wisp of smoke escaping from the small log wedged under it's right side...he had founds his enemy at last. The battle was now joined in earnest...
