Difficulty: Easy
Distance to Microbox: 30 yards

Status of Microbox: Alive and Well on 8/1/04

The “L/C – Horses” microbox is located near Lemhi Pass, at the Historical sign where Lewis and Clark camped on their trip through the mountains. This sign is on the Idaho side of the pass, up a gravel and dirt road. The site has a trial that follows their path up through a lower pass, as well as the historical marker sign. It is dedicated to the need of horsed that Lewis and Clark were in search of at this time.

Directions:
From the small town of Tendoy, Idaho, take the road going up to Lemhi Pass. (once you have turned onto this road in Tendoy, you should make a right turn, then soon a left, then start climbing). After about 8 miles (not sure of distance) you will come to the historical marker sign on your left for “Lewis and Clark’s 1st campsite in Idaho”. Stop and get out.

To the Microbox:
From the sign, go northwest up the trail to the L & C Post (about 6 feet tall), about 20 yards past the gate. Go west at 250 degrees (off trail) to the pine tree. The microbox is on the back side of this tree, at the base, covered with needles and small rocks.
