Snake Hunt included 2 boxes placed in Talley Day Park on Foulk Road north of Wilmington DE. Water Snake Head was placed by Cowsmart; Snake Hunter by Sheba. Terrain is easy but not stroller-friendly--and usually muddy!
Box 1:
Park in the library lot and begin your hunt at the state flag. Stroll south past the iron umbrellas. Nine steps take you squarely to the brick walk. Though there are many rights here, your path lies left. When you find the smartest pig's house, you will see the Green twins at one o'clock. Pass by them and through the rocky gap on the paved path at 230d.
After passing the picnic table you'll see a pond on your left. Continue along the path until you see a small trail on your right (if you come to round iron, you've gone too far). Follow the trail past a V tree on the left; cross the small stream & continue alongside the creek. Look for Reynolds Supply on round iron to your right. When you reach the clearing just ahead, stamd facing the large rock with a smaller one on each side. Take about 5 paces to the large tree, then about 2 more to another rock. About 6 paces further on, look for SPOR between a rock & a hard place, in front of another large tree.
Box 2:***
Return to the paved path and head back toward the pond. Take to the gravel east to the high road around the pond and continue past the puppy cage on your right. When you meet the paved path again, follow it left for a short distance until you can turn right into the woods.
The path snakes through the woods until it comes to a fork. Rather than crossing the bridge, backtrack 12 true paces to a leafy trail that turns off to the right. Pass the flat rock on your left and find your way across the stream.
Soon you will see a 4' stump on your right. Look across the trail and you will see a fallen log that makes an "X" with a shorter piece of log. The Water Snake is nestled beneath the center of the "X".
Continue down the path & out of the woods. The trail circles counterclockwise around the hill until it reaches a paved path, which will take you back to the library.
