"Wait a minute!" I realized, "she's not a...! She's a ...."
Which made me think of a story I read, years ago; & that's how I knew her name was Sal.

You can find Sal tucked into a book at the Brandywine Hundred Library on Foulk Road just north of Wilmington DE.
The library is open Mon-Fri 10AM-9PM, Sat 10AM-5PM, Sun 1PM-9PM. (check their website www.co.new-castle.de.us/libraries/brandywinehundredlibrary/brandywine.asp for holiday closings).

Clues to Sal's book? Well, the author has the same last name as Madeline's caretaker; the title is an atmospheric phenomenon; and the call # (ABC.DEF) can be found from the following:

At the library, ascend 20 + 4.

Find "Leo Irwin A Man of Words" (if you have trouble, check back between 8 & 9).

Use one of Leo's books (the cattle-crossing one, it's shorter!) to find letterbox. Note the page #.

Math trivia time: if you subtract the 3rd digit from the first 2 digits, you get the last digit! & that number is A.

Multiply A by the number of slanted pillars and subtract the number of weeks in a year to get B.

C? Count ceiling circles (the real big ones) & divide by 5.

According to Macbeth's witches (Act I, scene iii), "the charm's wound up" right after D.

E stands for "empty elevator"--how many people can you put in it?

Consult the library catalog for the author of "Horses of Anger"--one of the syllables in his name is F.

Good luck!

Note: Sal has permission to be in the library, but the librarians don't know where she is, so please don't bother them by asking for hints! If there are any problems with Sal, please contact wilmcoe@yahoo.com. As always, be discreet (remember it's a library!) and return Sal exactly where and how you found her.
